Increase syntax homogeneity
The definitions of conjonctions and alternatives are currently significantly different: modifiers are mandatory for conjonctions, and forbidden for alternatives. Moreover, conjonctions are optional.
It could make sense to be more permissive (e.g., allowing modifier omission in conjonctions) in order to increase syntax homogeneity.
However, this may need to be further studied.
